Description
Known as a hemstitch or wing needle, it features wings on either side of the shaft. It is used to create decorative openwork or cut-work on tightly-woven fabrics. This needle should be used with caution, as it is very sharp and is made to actually cut the fabric – you may want to use a stabilizer. Experiment with decorative stitches, but use a zig-zag plate and check that the opening is wide enough to accomodate the pattern by carefully hand-turning the needle through the stitch movements before actually trying it on the project.
