Learn the fundamentals of building quilts from start to finish. Learn the basics of rotary cutting, piecing, straight line quilting and binding to get you on track to be a successful quilter in the 4 part class.

Fabric Requirements:
Two sizes available
- no flannel, directional pattern, or solid fabric for your backing.
5 x 5 SQUARE quilt (40.5″ x 40.5″):
0.8 metres – background
0.4 metres – chain
0.15 metres – small border
0.6 metres – large border
1.2 metres – backing
0.3 metres – binding
1.1 metres – batting (46″ wide)
5 x 7 RECTANGULAR quilt (40.5″ x 52.5″):
1.0 metres – background
0.5 metres – chain
0.15 metres – small border
0.6 metres – large border
1.5 metres – backing
0.35 metres – binding
1.5 metres – batting (46″ wide) OR 1 package crib batting
Notions Required:
Thread – 60-weight neutral-coloured cotton for piecing (ie. smoke grey, taupe, khaki – no colours please)

Tools Required:
Pattern (provided)
18″ x 24″ rotary cutting mat
Rotary cutter and new blade (we recommend the OMNIGRID 28 or 45mm cutter – very safe and easy to use)
Ruler – 6½” or 8½” x 24″ for cutting fabric
Ruler – 8½” bias square
Measuring tape – 120″
Sewing machine in good working order with universal and quilting needles, bobbins and manual
Foot – ¼” piecing foot (must have for first class)
Foot – walking foot (must have for third class)
Basic sewing supplies – pins, scissors, extra sewing machine needles, etc.
Extra Instructions:
Please purchase all fabrics and supplies prior to class – we do NOT have time to shop during class.
There will be no alterations or variations to the pattern or supply list allowed in this class, as we do not have time. But they are highly encouraged on your second quilt.
Please allow our very qualified staff to help you purchase all fabrics and supplies, to ensure that you have no problems in the class.
Please bring a machine with which you are comfortable to class.
Note that piecing and walking feet do not come standard with most sewing machines – please purchase these prior to class.
Please bring snacks to class, there will not be a break for lunch. Coffee or water can also be brought in a sealable container.
To comply with copyright laws, everyone must have their own copy of the pattern (provided). Please do not share with others outside of the class.
