Trashy Market Basket – Round. Trashy baskets are often made from recycled plastic bags & fabric scraps. The warp (vertical structure of the basket) is made of elephant grass, just like the regular bolga baskets. All baskets are woven by hand in the Bolgatanga area of Ghana, West Africa. Handles are covered with goat leather reinforcing its construction while also adding an extra level of comfort when carrying a full load. The basket is approximately 13″ diameter x 10″ tall. tall, not including the handle. Big Blue Moma baskets are handmade by one of 1000 women & men of the collective we support in Ghana & as such, size & shape may vary slightly. Big Blue Moma purchases baskets directly from the makers. Big Blue Moma choose ethical collectives originating in Ghana & pay their makers a fair wage. Every basket that is sold affects the makers in Bolgatanga, Ghana in the most positive way.
